Women’s Empowerment in Love, Sexuality, & RelationshipsS2 EPISODE 012 :: Right on time for Valentine’s Day – we celebrate the beautiful concept of loving ourselves as women and mamas, so we can flourish into the incredible creatures we were destined to be.
In this episode, there is NO. HOLDING. BACK.
<Ahem… you may want to put your headphones on and move away from little ears, as we dig deep into topics that make even yours truly, blush in all shades>
Jannine Mackinnon, a community builder and advocate for all women, specializes in Women’s empowerment and female sexuality. She offers a safe space to challenge the social norms that we, as women and mothers, have been conditioned to accept as our reality.
But it doesn’t have to be.
Did you know that women’s empowerment goes beyond equal access, breaking gender bias, and feminism? It’s all encompassing and it STARTS AT HOME with the decision ultimately being… wait for it…. our own. So let’s talk about it!
Let’s Talk MAMA MARTYRDOM (9:24)
Jannine introduces a gentle approach to understanding ourselves as women, resisting the temptation to fall into martyrdom. We talk about how our needs are often put aside for the sake of their family and how using our voice and setting healthy boundaries we can say no to martyrdom and yes to empowerment.
Let’s Talk FEMINISM(22:55)
Jannine decodes the complexities of feminism and the “anything you can do, I can do better” approach, and encourages us to celebrate where women differ. We talk about tuning into our unique strengths and how timing and hitting the reset button is key for women to truly shine.
Let’s Talk HORMONES (26:13)
Hormones play a huge role – did you know we have superpowers that come alive at different points in our cycle? Let’s talk about how society tippy toes around that “time of the month” and how we can actually use our cycle to tap into the best version of ourselves. (P.S. My mind exploded here)
Let’s talk RELATIONSHIPS (32:19)
The shift towards a more “transactional” approach to relationships, and keeping score in our partnerships often promotes disconnection. Jannine offers a perspective to promote togetherness while maintaining individuality within relationships.
And the part where your host talks a mile a minute, to offset her flushed cheeks…. (you will LOVE this part, ladies)
Let’s talk “ABOUT SEX, baby”…. (37:50)
(And yes, I break into song, because – well, you know your girl couldn’t pass up the chance). You will soon see (get a good dose on our Youtube version), just how your favourite “PRUDE” (yours truly) is literally transformed in one sitting, as we “go there” in the world of pleasure, self love, and tapping into our own needs as a woman. Jannine takes the stigma and taboo of sex talk, particularly in matters of self love – and throws it out the proverbial window. She teaches women to embrace their sexuality as essential to women’s empowerment.
Dear lord, please don’t let this be the episode my mom and dad listen to. (only partially kidding).
So mamas… give yourselves the ultimate day of love, self-love, and a much deserved reset. Sit back, and be enlightened by a very candid conversation that will blow your mind, open your eyes, ease your load, and relieve all that pressure (in more ways then one….).
Are you ready to make the shift and tap into our inner awesomeness?

I have book marked this post to come back and listen to it when it’s not 10pm at night with my kids tossing a balloon and rubber ball in the air, hitting the dog and nearly myself. I read the text on each section and it sounds like just the thing I wanna listen to as I spend a valentine’s alone (deployed hubby).

I’m so sorry you had to spend your Valentine’s day without your hubs (bless him AND you!), and I definitely get the whole kiddo-dog-balloon-hitting scenario! Once you have some time to yourself or if you can sneak in some earphone action – this episode would DEFINITELy be up your alley! Excited to see what you think!!

This sounds so good! I love anything dealing with female empowerment. I’m most interested to hear the hormones section as mine are out of control now that I’ve hit my 40s.
Deb B says
YES to female empowerment dear friend! I’m with you on that! AND you will love the hormone section – our superpowers during parts of our cycle is mind blowing! Can’t wait to hear your take on it!

ABSOLUTELY! I have spent a big chunk of my years as mama – laser focused on everyone ELSE, which is par for the course. However, only now am I learning to love and prioritize myself!

Wow, this blog post truly resonated with me! Empowerment is such a powerful concept, and it’s incredible how it can transform lives. We often underestimate the impact our own thoughts and actions can have on ourselves and those around us.
