Today was Day One of our 2 month long travels. We just took a boat, a car, a train, and now – a plane. PHEW! That is taking Planes, Trains, and Automobiles to a whole other level!
So… the big question was – what to wear?
When it comes to a toddler, it is all about flexibility, durability, safety, and comfort. Cute can be squeezed in there somewhere – but we all know that we are dreaming if we think cute supersedes comfort when it comes to travel. So we decided to compromise.
We went super casual, with a little fringe love. With this accessory success, what I like to call “successory” – we managed to bring a travel outfit from sweatpants and ponytails, to travelista chic.
Comfy, stretchy leggings, a long sleeve crew neck that peeks out of a simple cardigan, and an easy bun, was as basic as we could get. But as an added touch, we threw on a pair of short, fringe moccasins, her leopard and hot pink headphones (or what LD likes to refer to as “ear muffs” that play music), and a fringe messenger bag that bears quite the resemblance to her mommy’s Steve Madden Lil Cross Body Purse, (and yes, we coordinated outfits in its entirety as well… I mean c’mon – how could I resist the opportunity to indulge in a little mommy-n-me jetsetter action??)
We knew we had a moment outside to board the plane during the first leg of our flight (such is life for a lowly islander), so instead of a big bulky coat, we opted for a light, puffy Calvin Klein vest which kept her nice and cozy to withstand the breeze, while still maintaining travelista status.
Smartest decision big mama has made was having LD wear her Velcro Back Flap Booties from Minnetonka. She’s had these babies for a couple years now. Yes, I got them a size too big back in the infant days, and yes, this tot has definitely had her toddler moments with them. Notwithstanding, they are just as durable and comfortable as the first day we got them. On the plane, they were an easy on and off situation, and any traveling mama-baby duo would agree, that easy access is key when it comes to traveling footwear. My little mama likes to take hers off the second she’s settled in her seat – and it is always a last minute rush upon landing to get her shoes back on.
Looks like we have ourselves, one happy traveler.
And if you’re wondering what could possibly be inside this cross body fringe purse that a 3 year old is sporting – check out our post on Tips from the Mini Travelista – What to DO with the Traveling Tot. Inside, are some simple activities to help entertain your jet setting toddler (while you catch up on that book you could never get past chapter 1 on! Yay for me – I got to chapter 3! Hooray!).
