In case you don’t already know, Big Daddy is an Artist by trade.
So the minute LD came into this world, rather than saying “Woah – look at my beautiful daughter!” (moreover, “My wife totally rocks…”) – the first words that came out of his mouth were, “Ahh… This kid’s gonna be an Artist”. Okay – so I was a little loopy at the time, but I’m sure that was the gist of it. Because of Big Daddy‘s ultimate goal to make an honest Artist out of his baby girl – I have kept my eyes peeled for anything Art-related that would inspire LD at all stages of her life.
LD‘s fave one-stop-shop – and when I say, one-stop, I mean we only have time to stop ONCE that day, as we spend hours there – preferably from Sunrise to Sunset… but I digress. As I was saying, LD‘s fave one-stop-shop for all that is new, necessary, and fabulous – TARGET – announced that they will be launching the long-awaited Kid Made Modern Collection, TODAY, March 20, 2012 online and offline! Kid Made Modern is a collection of do-it-yourself Art projects with a stylish flair, created by the legendary designer himself, Todd Oldham.
Mr. Oldham is not a stranger to our household, as he is all that is fashion and design (two words right up there next to love, food, and shelter, as far as LD is concerned!). When we caught wind of this new collection – LD almost went berzerk (okay, so it was really her father that nearly lost his mind, but whatever the case…). We were already big fans of his Dorm and Home Room Collection also exclusive to Target, so naturally, Kid Made Modern, the fun (hardcover) guide to mid-century modern Art for kidlets (released in 2009) was an absolute must-have, even B.C (Before Child). This book illustrated kiddy-friendly step-by-step projects which includes, but not limited to: ideas on how to create accessories, scarves, paper lanterns – utilizing everyday items like food and aluminum foil – encouraging creative thinking for kids 5 years and up (I imagine this is the category Big Daddy and I would fall under, rather flawlessly…).
Word has spread rather quickly for the launch of this extraordinary collection of ultra cool and classic art supplies and kits for our mini-me’s! As Jenn Falik, our go-to style and beauty expert on the Today Show proclaimed, “This is one of the coolest crafty kits EVER!” Big Daddy can’t wait to get his hands on the Comic Book Kit as he has a stack of roughs neatly tucked away in his desk somewhere, that I’m sure LD will be more than happy to assist him with. And now, thanks to Kid Made Modern, completing their father-daughter-inspired comics will no longer be a chore, but rather a perfect solution for a rainy day indoor activity!
We are especially excited about the adorable, kid-safe, Crayon Gems (SO visually appealing – and so in line with LD‘s mantra “Go cute, or go home!”).
Oldham talks further about these fabulous, yet functional crayons… “One crayon has 64 colors within it and because it’s faceted on the sides, you have all these bright color-defined edges you can draw across the paper.” Genius, really.
And if it weren’t enough to make your own Comics with Multi-faceted Crayons, the entire collection includes custom Neon-Printed, Rainbow, and Mixed Duct Tape (who would’ve thunk??):
Jewelry-making Kits including moon rocks, felt pom poms, and wooden beads:
they even have a Block Party Kit to keep your neighborhood kiddies entertained on a non-lazy Sunday afternoon:
and much more!!!
Take a closer look at what will be hitting Target in mere hours:
We, at BABYSTLISTA – encourage imagination and creative expression – in how we dress, think, speak (for LD, that would be babbling, but creative babbling, nonetheless!). And if creativity comes at a price of $20.00 or less, as it is in over 48 items included in this Collection – you’ve got my vote!
So run, waddle, or LD‘s case, cruise your buns over to the nearest Target, or simply click on Target.com and get these goodies for your little ones. That will buy all you mamas and daddies time to do your creative projects at home. In my case, I’ll just be happy to get my dishes done.
Stylishly and creatively yours,
db
