Being a frequent flyer and unassumingly outfit-centric jet setter, LD has spent her share of quality time as co-pilot in the cockpit.
And as amazing as an experience this would be, there was always something missing…
What to wear??
It wasn’t until we bumped into the Air Force 3 patch Officer’s jacket from Up and Away Jackets, that we realized what was missing all along. Among all of her costumes and coordinating gear – this self-acclaimed mini-travelista, in her own right, has yet to don the perfect pilot uniform.
…. and then this happened.
We love this collection as it offers some of the most authentic styles in outerwear for kids, available in sizes 12 months (Americana-themed infant jackets! Do I hear a resounding “awwww”??) to 12 years.
One would naturally think – “Awesome. This would be PERFECT for my son” – or “my nephew”, or “so-and-so’s little man”. But when we first discovered Up and Away Jackets, we were pretty much swept off our feet. From their insanely cool Motorcycle Jacket, to the classic M-64 Field Jacket, to the uber chic Rock N’ Roll Jacket, to the timeless A2 Bomber Jacket, your little man or your daring diva can’t help but play the role.
This jacket is not only remarkably durable, and ridiculously fun, it also encourages my little one to think outside of the dress-up box.
Sure, she loves her share of princesses and tea parties, but when it comes down to it, my part-time princess never passes up a chance to break out her inner tomboy chic.
From planes…
to automobiles…
… This little mama knows exactly what fun play is.
And she’s not afraid to do a little cross-pollination between her worlds. Here’s Sven from Frozen (naturally!) taking a little spin on her aircraft.
We love how the Officer’s jacket not only empowers my part-time pilot/part-time officer/part-time princess, to use her imagination to the nth degree, but also keeps her looking and feeling oh-so-fabulous while doing so.
This lightweight jacket is perfect for the in-between seasons where the sun is still shining, but the air is still crisp. We are head-over-combat-boot-heels over the 3 embroidered patches which features an officer’s rank, U.S. Air force, and an American flag (just in case she forgets where she came from). Oh – and did I mention they have the exact same style for when I feel like paying homage to MY homeland – the Canadian Snowbird 3 Patch Navy Jacket? Each shoulder is decorated with an ornamental epaulette, similar to that of her co-pilot, Paul of Air Canada. And we all know this little mama would go the distance if it meant she had a chance of being a co-pilot to her new BFF – now adorned in her most apropos air force duds.
Finally, our verdict? Why don’t we ask the little officer herself?
Yah, I thought so…

A special Thank You to Paul, from Air Canada – for giving LD the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be co-pilot for the day! (okay, so it was more like 5 minutes – but nonetheless, that was a best 5 minutes of her life!)
