It’s a ninja girl birthday party and it’s all about fancy kicks, and turning six!
Our Little Mama has transformed herself into little ninja status and we couldn’t have been more excited to make this a fun celebration for her and 30 of her little friends.
Yup. I said 3o.
(6 are missing from this shot… probably munching on ninja snacks)
With most of her kindergarten class, and a few of her closest playdate buddies, it was easy to grow that number of the recommended 6 attendees (apparently, it’s a good idea to have the same amount of attendees as your corresponding age – yeah… that’s gonna happen with the Balinos), to a whopping 30. Over the course of 4 years since Little Mama has been more aware of whose company she enjoys most, she’s nurtured deep connections with friends and couldn’t imagine ringing in another year without including all of them.
So what to do when there’s more kids than there are hands on deck?
Why, pass them off to someone else, of course!
We decided to host our ninja birthday party at Crusher Combat Sports where Sensai Keri and Sensai Mike know just how to work their magic in converting the endless energy of tiny ninjas into something fun, mildly competitive, and everything in between.
First order of business…
Ninja girl birthday party BUTT-KICKING HEADBANDS
I initiated each of the kids with their own blinged out (well, because – Little Mama…) headband as they entered the dojo. Then they were given a short introduction of what they were in for, errr… I mean, what fun ninja activities they were about to embark upon. I’m sure this was the moment of truth for both Sensai Keri and Sensai Mike as they realized the crazyland that their dojo was about to transform into.
The smallies couldn’t wait to kick some birthday buns while grappling, racing, and playing tug o’ war.
Can’t forget the animal crawl sequence. Might as well work out those core muscles while we’re at it.
Her little friends may have known it was somewhat of a ninja girl birthday party, but girls and boys alike, enjoyed the element of fab and fierce without worrying about purple not being the typical ninja’s color of choice. Take a look at our ninja birthday party prep post where we pulled out all our DIY tricks to convert a typical black and red party, into Little Mama‘s most favorite color: purple, purple… oh… and did I mention, purple?
But Smallie has always embraced her a-typical self, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Says mommy, “Be the purple in the sea of red, little one, be you…”
Here they are in action..
When hosting a ninja girl birthday party – individual style, gender, and age, makes no difference. The aim was to get all of the kids in the spirit.
And getting in the spirit, they did…
Even the wee little ones had their share of ninja-tastic good times.
Parents were welcome to leave their kiddos, or stay and enjoy the entertainment of mini butt-kicking fun…
Side note: At this point, I’m sure the parents were thinking “Can’t wait for my glass o’ wine this quiet evening. Thanks to Deb’s fabulous forward planning, my kid’s gonna be all tuckered out by 7P. Party time!” #gottalovethatcrazypartyhost
But at the end of the day, it was all about celebrating another year of a beautiful life, and to enjoy one another wholeheartedly.
And if the kids thought the best part was the sparring, they were in for a real surprise.
Like our notorious tendency to put together kid-friendly feasts in the past, we wouldn’t be us, if we didn’t do the same for our little ninja girl birthday party! Click here to find out how this all came together…
But first… a stealthy ninja’s P.O.V.
Don’t forget the ninja sneaking around the corner’s P.O.V:
Then there was our ninja girl birthday party inspo snack table. Wanna know “how the…”, get the snack deets here.
We kept things light and a little on the sweeter side (sorry parents… I promise – there were vegetables there! They’re hiding at the side because… well – you know, they didn’t match!).
But the best part?
The cake.
Oh… the cake.
Since last year’s Toy Story party cake was such a delight, naturally, I didn’t waste any time booking the amazing skills of Belle’s Confections to create the masterpiece. She took my crazy vision of a chubby, non-threatening, adorable 3D ninja and ran with it. And it was more than I could have asked for. Thank you, Charity, for taking my vision and creating this work of art.
Wondering how our Little Ninja reacted to such insanity?
See for yourself…
I couldn’t get this fab and fierce ninja to mellow out, if I paid her in cupcakes. And boy, was she ready to attack those ninja star cupcakes. As was 30 of her dearest friends.
Little Ninja was given the amazing opportunity to feel like a real ninja as she used a sword to cut her amazing ninja cake. Let’s take a moment now, to acknowledge how much this pained me. I mean… the cake???
Luckily, Little Ninja had the time of her life cutting into her incredible masterpiece which was inevitably accompanied by an orchestration of oohs, ahhs, and “Oh my words”, which I know she absolutely revelled in.
Speaking of feeling the love, Smallie was given the awesome gift of individual ninja wishes from her attendees. Similar to what she had at our 5th birthday party Toy Story wish table, and Make 4 Wishes at her 4th Jasmine and Aladdin party, we invited the guests to write special messages on ninja silhouettes, accessorized with light purple crystal adhesive rhinestones. Since her party, we’ve read these messages of love (and hilarity) about a zillion times. It always brings a smile to both our faces.
We loved them all, but we were howling at “Cake is good for you” and “Happy Birthday next year” – I mean… kids have all the answers, don’t they? I sure think so. Little Ninja‘s fave of course, was “I wish we lived together”, because we all know she could use some company.
At the end of the day, our little ninja guests were given their own goody-stuffy. We aren’t much into the bag aspect of goody bags (much like our Toy Story and Aladdin party days), but a lot of love (and almost-pokes) went into the making of these tiny creatures. The kids were excited to get their very own ninja stuffy so they’ll always remember their 2 hours of being fun, fab, and fierce ninjas at Little Mama‘s 6th birthday. As reported by most of the parents of said little ninjas, they absolutely loved reading their super secret ninja name, that was rolled into a paper sword. Take a look here, on how I made these little guys.
I got a couple of my Ninja-tastic parents to help Little Mama distribute her “thank you” take home gifts to all her miniature sized guests. They lined up old school style, and graciously accepted their new stuffy friend, and our Little Ninja of Honor, could not have been more proud.
Because we all know… giving is the best gift of all (enter I-just-taught-my-daughter-a-life-lesson-feel-good music here).
Yes, it was crazyland – 30 kids and their parents… I wouldn’t expect anything less. But for our tiny family of three, where our home is much too quiet – much too often, 0ur hearts were full.
We kinda take our family’s life mantra, go big or go home, quite literally. Whatever floats your boat right?
I know I’m asked a gazillion times, why do I do what I do, knowing full well that my Little Ninja would be happy as all get out, with a cake, and a candle, surrounded by the two people who are head over heels in love with her. The fact is, my Little Mama is growing up, my ideas are still at an all-time high, and slowly but surely, my eyes and wrists won’t be as young as it used it be. So while the iron’s still hot, I’m taking this opportunity to exercise and implement my crazy ideas, using this amazing life we have as my canvas. As long as I don’t lose myself in the crazy, enjoy the process in the meantime, and no harm was done (though, I’m sure I could have used a couple more day’s worth of sleep, but whatever, she only turns 6 once…), it was all good.
When all was said and done, my biggest reward was getting a genuine “thank you for my awesome party, mommy and daddy. It was the best day ever…” from the Little Ninja herself.
All the details?
All the crazy?
Yeah… WORTH. IT.
