It’s no big secret that LD primarily stands for Little D, so every so often I try to sneak in a little mini-me-big-me action. Sometimes I hit the ball right outta the park – and other times, I get a big, fat, enthusiastic HECK NO (either from my good/bad conscience, Big Daddy, or LD herself) – so I try not to get too carried away. However, one remarkable day, while perusing through the tootsie aisle of TJ Maxx, I decided to take a closer look and see what the hype was all about.
…And I was certain my eyes were deceiving me when I caught a glimpse of these Steve Madden ‘P-Saassi’ Open-toe Platform Mary Janes for the ridic price of $32.99! SAY WHA??? I saw the same pair elsewhere (and that’s actually MORE than one “elsewhere“) for almost double the price, and I of course, resorted to merely daydreaming about prancing around the streets of Los Angeles, much like this:
But this time, instead of relying on my imagination, I quickly swept this second last pair of size 6’s off the shelf, threw it into my basket, and frantically searched for a matching pair…
… for LD:
You can’t see it at first glance, but don’t be fooled – There’s more to the faux fur plush tongue than meets the buy, with its hidden elastic side straps for easy entry and secure fit. These are the perfect pair for a chilly stroller ride, and at a steal of a price ($8.99), losing one shoe (quite the norm in our little household) will not break your heart, or your wallet.
I think my scream cut right through the Holiday classics blasting out of the speakers – I was so elated! These Faux Fur-cuffed suede “Plush Tongue Classic” Rocawear Snow Booties weren’t exactly Mary Janes, nor were they heels – but look at the uncanny resemblance?? Maybe it was the jeggings we both coincidentally threw on that day, or the splash of complementary bold color (I know I know, black is not exactly a color) that hugged the dorsal surface of the shoe, or that same goofy look of pure joy that took over our faces upon discovering coordinating hues of violet. Whatever it was – we found our match!! And we were not leaving TJ Maxx without both in hand (and on foot)!!!
So with sheer merriment and delight we shamelessly danced around TJ Maxx with our fabulous finds…
…meanwhile, there were other shoes in desperate need of attention, like these Juicy Couture Infant’s Canvas High-Top Sneakers:
Remember, back in the day (aka, a few weeks ago) when the once $58.00 pair of Juicy Couture high tops made it into our Haute Stuff post?:
Well – we are happy to report, TJ Maxx has completely floored us, yet again, with the insane price of $24.99 for the exact same pair of imported, rubber sole canvas high tops for our chubsters. I would much rather use the rest of the savings to buy us a few pairs of these booties, perfect for stocking stuffers:
…and one color for every outfit and matching hat to boot. The options are endless with these $7.99 Stepping Stone booties, which I hastily purchased in my pre-stylin-savvy days for hefty $20.00 EACH at another place and time, regrettably so. “Oh Mama”, says LD, “doncha know???… when in doubt, TJ Maxx it”. My daughter… so wise.
And so incredible at keeping me on my toes!
