Comparison and Envy.
Do you ever spend hours mindlessly scrolling through your social media account and feel overcome by a surge of envy – to the point where you spiral and end up hosting your own pity party?
Yeah… me too.
The voices in your head start telling you that you aren’t good enough, smart enough, wealthy enough, worthy enough, fit enough. And it’s plain madness. It’s unfair to you, and unfair to the person (or account) you’re measuring yourself against – the very person you are inadvertently building a resentment towards. Let’s face it, comparison can cause a lot of damage… for all parties involved.
How about if I told you there is a way to see comparison and envy in a different light? Like turning those sour lemons that leave a bad taste in your mouth, into a tall glass of freshly squeezed lemonade?
Take a listen and join me on our newest podcast episode below, as I share my secret recipe that has helped me take moments of comparison and envy and “make something” out of it.
For me.
What do you do when you go down that social media rabbit hole that leads to comparison and envy?
Darling, get your squeeze on. Goodness knows, we all need a drink,

Comparison creeps us on us when we least expect it. Especially when scrolling through the gram. An episode that’s worth listening to for sure, Deb!

Comparison is the thief of joy. Sometimes its so easy to get caught up in what others are doing and what they are posting. I’m definitely gonna listen to this.
Naomi says
That’s so true. It can be easy to envy others on social media. I have to listen to the podcast so interesting.
Melissa Dixon says
It is so easy to feel like we don’t add up. Everyone is on their own journey and we all need to remember that.

The comparison trap is the worst! I do self-coaching when I feel it creep on. I’ll take a listen to your podcast too.

It’s so easy to fall into the comparison trap. I have caught myself comparing my website and social media to others who are offering something similar. I feel like, she’s been doing this longer than me, she has better ideas than me, she has a bigger following than me. Instead of thinking that way, turn it around into something positive. I love how you use lemons and lemonade as a metaphor. I agree. It’s best to see the good things from it. Instead, I should say to myself, “how can I offer something different or better, how can I incorporate my unique twist to what I offer?”

I love this concept of how you can be envious which equates to being sour about things in life when you compare yourself. It happens sometimes. That’s exactly why I take a break or just unfollow certain people on my social media. It’s definitely better for my mental health.

I’ve never really been one to fall into this cycle but I definitely know people who do!

I’ll have to listen to this episode during my morning walk. Comparison is never good. It does us more harm than correction. Great message!

It is so true what you are saying about where you can get inspiration your from, you can draw it from anywhere and all kinds of places. This concept has been done for centuries in art, writing and all kinds of things great ideas come directly from nature sometimes, it is amazing.

I’ll have to check out the podcast. Sometimes I can’t even watch shows about vacation homes because it makes me feel sad and like a failure. I can totally relate to this.
