It’s Spring. The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining…
But little mama – is still freezing her buns off.
Since there were no puddles to jump in today, like there has been for the last 4 months, I gave LD free reign on shoes today, and she chose her faux fur pom pom boots. Uh oh. How do we work around this?
We’re right smack in the middle of transitioning from Winter into Spring, and boy, are we in limbo. The sun’s out, the wind is blowing, we’re hot in our parkas, and cold in our Spring jackets. Ugh. What to do?
So… we decided on a compromise.
5 TIPS ON WHAT TO WEAR IN-BETWEEN SEASONS
1. LAYER UP
Layering always works for the little one because when times get cold, we can add/replace/redo, meanwhile, when times get a little sweaty, it’s an easy peel/removal/recharge. We keep each layer relatively light and breathable and avoid having any of the layers terribly snug.
2. KEEP THINGS LIGHT
We’re talking about color now. Okay, so it’s not officially white pants season yet (but when have we ever followed fashion rules – puuuh-lease!!), but there’s nothing wrong with sporting bright whites, ivories, golds, and yellows! Match it with a white mock long sleeve, and a ruffled ivory tunic that goes past her waist, and you’re in limbo heaven.
3. TOP OFF THE OL’ NOGGIN
Hats are never in or out of the season. But materials are. Maybe it’s too hot to wear a knitted beanie (again, when have we ever followed fashion rules?), so opt for a cotton beret. Bonus if they’re shimmery. (This one was LD’s top choice for today).
4. ADD A DASH OF FAUX AND A SPRINKLE OF FAB
Sure, it’s Spring and all shades of pink are making its reappearance. You owe it to your little ones to let them wear some of those fab and glittery items that may have been a little too uncomfortable for the snowy/rainy weather. Now that the rain is making its way out, little mama was pretty excited to pull out her gold foil leggings and her faux fur trimmed military light jacket, that were always too cold and much too cute to wear in the slushy muddy winter months.
5. DON’T FORGET THE SUNNIES AND UV PROTECTION
It may be breezy, but keeping protected from the harmful UV rays is just as important as keeping things cute, so don’t forget the specs and creams!
