I know this is merely one opinion – but I am certain I speak for millions (more like, 700+) when I say – PSY‘s performance at the 2012 American Music Awards last Sunday – with MC Hammer as his surprise guest, could be summed up in one perfectly descriptive cliche: EPIC.
It wasn’t so much the performance itself that really got me – though, that was pretty much off-the-charts-insane.
Nor was it just the fact that they had the entire auditorium breaking out into into a Gangnam frenzy, including some familiar faces…
…even the more reserved of the bunch, couldn’t help but break out his dancing shoes.
It wasn’t even the fact that they everso seamlessly mixed two of the most world-renowned top hits to kill the charts – bridging the gap between the generations – though I nearly lost my mind listening to its flawless transition, as did the ex-DJ himself, DJ Big Daddy.
No. It wasn’t any of these things that made us want to get up and giddy up to this epic performance.
It was this…
The Harem pants. Yes. The Harem pants.
Please tell me, world – why do we not all own a pair of these??
Even The Bieb… He’s no stranger to the parachute pant, and fever or not – he ain’t afraid to show it – in bright red, no less:
Kind of brilliant, if you ask me. The one thing that brought tears to my eyes was knowing that while we, as a family, were enjoying this impeccable performance admiring PSY‘s insane black MC Hammer Harems – somewhere in a dresser only 10 steps away, my beloved little LD, had her own version of the same pants.
These Nununu Baby Baggy Sweats in black with skulls and crossbones can be worn with virtually anything. In fact, they have so much character – LD was perfectly content with her nondescript black fitted tank from H&M Kids and her perfectly manicured (aka: untouched) bare feet. These pants are so ridiculously cute and comfortable, with a style that stands out (and hangs low), there’s really no need for all the bells and whistles.
Best part? She loves to wear them as she watches PSY‘s video in awe…. on well – a daily basis. Yup… DAILY – 3 times a day in fact. Similar to this guy:
Apparently little Benjamin, the fussy eater who has gone severely viral on Youtube and refuses to eat without being serenaded by PSY‘s video of Gangnam Style – is NOT the only tummy satisfied by a healthy dose of “Op op op op oppa… Gangnam Style!” Darn – I KNEW we should have jumped on that Youtube bandwagon. We could barely get two bites out of LD, that is, until the dancing fiend in the elevator, or the “yellow suit guy” – Mr. Banana (as she likes to refer to him) battles with PSY in the parking garage.
Good grief, those Yellow Adidas adiSTAR racer sneakers are nothing short of amazing.
Yes – the household, along with the rest of North America has gone Gangnam Style cray cray. One of our fave stylin’ little guys on Instagram is a sure fan.
And this dapper dude is even sporting PSY‘s signature wingtips! Are you kidding me?
Even PSY‘s mini-me who makes an appearance on the vid, rocks an infectious style that has taken the kiddie fashion world by storm.
If for some reason (Preposterous!) you were unable to see this incredible performance that has pretty much gotten the music and fashion world on its feet, here it is for your viewing pleasure. Get UP, put your Hammer Harem bottoms on, and get down with the rest of America.
Gangnam-Stylishly yours (…cuz it’s Hammer Time),
