This may come as a shock to you, but I am secretly thrilled that my 4 year old Little Mama has the uncanny ability to spend a limited amount of time playing princesses, while spending an abundant remainder of the time rolling around in the dirt playing with toy trucks. It’s not that I always wished for a boy instead, but I just see such a resounding resemblance of myself in my part-time diva, full-time tomboy, and I can’t help but find joy in that.
Don’t get me wrong – I love me some tea parties and fancy wear – especially if it means, I get to join in on the fun. But here, on the west coast, when it comes to romping around in the rainy winters, the first thing we grab is our most durable outerwear that can successfully withstand the abuse treatment of my very rambunctious preschooler.
We are no strangers to the fabulous quality of Up and Away Jackets. These beautifully made jackets are as good as it gets when it comes to authentic patching and detail. If your little one wants to be a pilot – there’s a jacket for that. How about a little officer or a fighter pilot? Or if they happen to have plans to float around in space for day, surely there must be a jacket for that? Why yes, there is, right here!
Ever since Little Mama was a teeny weeny busy body, she always had a fondness for digging.
Her big cousins were major dinosaur fans, so naturally she was influenced. While everyone else was busy playing superheros (another one of her faves), Little Mama and her boy cousins twice her age, would play Indiana Jones seeking out adventurous opportunities and hunting for treasures. My little Paleontologist, along with her fossil excavating posse would get into all kinds of fun trouble bringing home some of the more… interesting finds. But the best part was her adventures along the way…
She would climb walls…
Trek over top mountains….
Find tunnels and caves to run in and out of – repeatedly…
Of course, never passing an opportunity to stop and do her signature Miss Thang pose (in case we forget our roots)…
While stopping the unwelcomed guests from trespassing the area…
And of course… more time spent on digging.
Basically – she would be a fun-loving, adventure-seeking kid.
Now that she is in full gear, thanks to our friends at Up and Away Jackets, she is ready for more adventures.
As a licensed Tyrannosaurus expert, it was her ultimate duty to hang out with her dinosaur friends.
Though distracted by an array of emotions,
Ultimately, it’s joy that takes over.
Aside from all the fun we naturally have while playing out our palaeontologist persona, the overall fashion component of this super cool jacket is not one to be ignored. We are loving the brown corduroy collar which adds a simple touch of style – something we can never resist. The two front storage pockets and two side hand pockets make room for some of the more interesting finds.
But not surprisingly, the patches won our hearts immediately. My American-born Little Mama proudly sports her flag, along with her dinosaur excavation credentials, while shamelessly showcasing her international fossil society member’s badge.
After an exciting albeit exhausting day of digging and whatnot, my little paleontologist decides it’s time to hang up her coat and shake off all the dirt. Luckily, this jacket is washable and water-repellent. Big Mama’s pleased. And apparently, so is Little Mama.
