Ever since Little Mama turned 3 years old, she has been more inclined to playing pretend rather than experiencing reality – which is quintessentially a snore fest for her. She would pretend to be a world renowned cook, an organic grocer, a funky princess (naturally), an embittered mermaid, a busy mommy, an exhausted daddy – she pretended her way through virtually everything. Helping mom in the kitchen, making real food, or washing real dishes? Nope, not happening.
But I don’t mind. I am absolutely blown away by Little Mama‘s imagination – and sometimes, I can’t help but join in on the fun. I mean, who wouldn’t want an escape from reality every once in awhile?
A few days ago, she was a Paleontologist who hung out with dinosaurs, dug up remains, and climbed terrains. It was wonderful to see her get down and dirty, only moments after prancing around in her Elsa dress pretending to turn everything into ice. I’m thinking the weather was an active deterrent to this princess play, much to my excitement. There are only so many melting ice cubes I can take in one household.
Whenever, it is possible – we make all attempts to encourage our little one to experience all she can in a real world environment, so that she can tap into these experiences in her world of pretend. When we received this gorgeous Up and Away Jackets MA-1 Flight Jacket, we knew exactly where that real world environment would be – our favorite family spot where we watch the airplanes take flight.
So why not dress the part?
She insisted on a little face paint to complete her look – and who am I to judge? At least she wasn’t asking for makeup. I’m certain, Big Daddy wouldn’t be a fan of that idea.
This jacket was the perfect added touch to our day of pretend. It was a rather cold day, but not so cold that we had to break out the fur trim, and pom pom boots. We love these days, because we can wear virtually any outdoor jacket, so naturally we choose the most flexible, durable, warm, yet lightweight option. The MA-1 Flight Jacket from Up and Away Jackets was the perfect choice.
In keeping with the theme – this WWII Women’s Air Service Pilot inspired jacket, called for a little flight action from the pilot herself. She had the most fun doing this. We love how she was able to stretch out, jump, and run, as the soft material has that extra give that allows the kiddos to move around freely.
The pilot-themed embroidered patches does not disappoint. Just like our experiences with all of our Up and Away Jackets of yore, we examine each patch, enjoying every detail and tribute. And let’s not forget the left arm pocket where Little Mama can store all her flight-inspired souvenirs, because one cannot be an air force pilot without the appropriate props, right?
Of course, the 100% nylon woven exterior in bright pastel pink is not something we could easily ignore. It’s sharp, snazzy, and pretty darn cute. We especially love how the overall light tone of the jacket contrasts with each bold patch, making it even more appealing to the eye.
So we ask our little Air Force Pilot – what’s the deal, my friend? Are you feeling it? Two thumbs up for your MA-1 Flight Jacket? Are you taking flight?
The answer is simple – easily summed up in one simple gesture. Pure bliss!
