The ULTIMATE Cozy Corner :: Coco Village Garden Playhouse

With the Christmas Holidays just around the corner, my little homeschoolers seem to have already checked out. Between the changing seasons, chilly weather, and their natural inclination to staying in their fuzzy jammies for the better part of the day, they are always looking for ways to leave the homeschool scene for a much needed break – indoors. 

Enter the most ultimate cozy corner your kiddos never knew they needed…

The Garden Playhouse from Coco Village.

This beautifully crafted modern style cottage playhouse, made of weather-resistant spruce wood and paint, can stand the harsh outdoors, but while the sun is on hiatus and the rain has made its way into our everyday, the kids begged to transform this charming, outdoor nook – into their newly improved indoor cozy corner. (Side note: Highly recommend giving the wood a few days to breathe once taken out of the box as the smell, although a pleasant smell of wood, is quite strong and should be aired out before bringing it back indoors).

A cozy corner by definition, is a comfortable area, typically soft, fluffy, and close to the floor for easy access. We actually have a few cozy corners throughout our home, that have evolved during the pandemic months – not just for the kids, but for us big kids too (because we all need a little self care…). We love to fill it with pretty lighting, books, sensory toys such as poppers, squishables, fidget spinners, sweet notes, sensory bottles, and anything that promotes the beautiful concept of calm. With the relaxing and simple colours of this gorgeous little cottage, it easily transforms into the perfect “make shift” and rather, boujie cozy corner for the winter and spring months. The kids agreed that once the weather was ready to cooperate, they would love to allow the warm summer breeze and bright light to flow through these lovely windows outside on our patio.

But for now… indoors it is!

One of the many discoveries we have learned as parents, that we wished we begged for requested as kids, is the option of a cozy corner where we can retreat when we have big feelings to sort out. We’re not much into sending our kids into their rooms or to sit alone in a corner to endure the wrath of consequence. But we do believe that space, silence, time, and consistency, with a touch of variety – is the perfect blend of self care after a tough moment.

And do we ever have some tough moments. 

This Playhouse is also amazing for sibling, pet, or parent-to-child bonding. In our case, homeschooling a grade school student (little mama) while teaching introductory skills to a preschooler (my busy little man), the age gap doesn’t always lend itself to common interests as far as learning. So it’s been such a treat for these two besties to “recess” in their own little “home-inside-their-home” that’s made just for them. According to these little people of mine, we shall now refer to this sweet oasis as:

THE HOUSE OF SMALLS (standby for their custom made welcome mat!) 

Finding the perfect little spot in the house where two children vastly different in age, who don’t always see eye to eye, isn’t easy. But the Garden Playhouse at Coco Village did an amazing job designing a modern “kids only” home that appealed to kids of all ages (including their parents!).

Seeing these two enjoy one another’s company is all I could ever ask for.
