We’re a family of 4, DGE&I [Deb, George, not-so-little Little Mama, and our Little Man]. 3 outta 4 of us moved from the great big vibrant city of Los Angeles into the peaceful and relaxing embrace of West Coast Canada – right off the edge of beautiful Vancouver Island. For years, I travelled to the big American cities to style kids and attend events as babyStylista, and now, we’re taking a step back, focusing a little more on our two smallies, Little Mama and Little Man, and immersing ourselves in the serene world of island living. Although we continue to work with some of the top brands in kids apparel and products, we spend a little less time focusing on what the smallies are wearing, and more on how we’re celebrating them as they learn to come into their own. Our goal is to hold on to the big city vibe that we know and love, while integrating our style sensibilities and love for beautiful things, with simple living.
As a work-at-home mom, I found myself completely inundated with activities, getting caught up in the latest and greatest gadgets for our first born (and sometimes her daddy), drowning in the algorithm of social media, and inadvertently losing myself in the mix. I think I’ve held the role as Instagram Mom for far too long. Ladies – let’s stop hiding behind our lenses!
In addition to the everyday chaos of parenting, we, as a family, spent the last year rebuilding from the heartbreak of recurrent miscarriages (5 early miscarriages) and baby loss (4 in our second trimester), we are quickly realizing that our journey is leading us to where we are right now – our family of four with our newest made with so much love and in the most unexpected way. Read here to read about how our Rainbow came to be.
Sass & Smalls is about the everyday musings of a work-at-home mama of an artistic 10 year old quirky not-so-little girl, and a hilarious often outspoken homewrecking housecleaning 2 year old toddler, bringing the big city sass to the island. Living minimally, stylishly, and creatively, while navigating through the beautiful chaos of parenting. We’re ready to tell our story and to just KEEP. IT. REAL.
So join us as we talk about some of the amazing products, experiences, progressive ideas, and simple shifts in our mindset – that has helped us get through the struggles of infertility, depression and grief, disappointment, moving homes (and countries), and most of all… parenting.
We continue this journey of finding perfection in the imperfection of family life – while keeping things as sassy as they’ve always been before the drool, meltdowns, and potty mishaps came into the picture.
Join me in my journey as a mom – and let’s help each other GET OUR SASS BACK.
