Tiny Rudolph does it again.
I try to teach our Tiny Rudolph that outreach and extending gratitude is the best act of kindness that anyone can give. Simple acknowledgement and telling a person that they’re awesome – is enough to spread the good feels all around. And we wanted a piece of all this good stuff.
So similar to the years passed of dropping off goodies, in full Holiday gear (of course) – we decided that this year we would throw on a bright red nose and get to work. Here’s our Tiny Rudolph in action.
Tiny Rudolph has been rather busy preparing her packs for delivery.
First up – Kindergarten buddies. We thought it would be fun to create Snowman pops. However, that requires actual skill in making pops. And I will say with no hesitation… that is not a skill we have readily available. Nor do we have time.
So…. Oreo snowman pops it is.
All we needed was a box of oreos, white German chocolate wafers to melt (yummy!), left over sticks from her birthday party, mini chocolate bites, orange skittles (say no to peanuts when it comes to Kindergarten!), and of course, felt for the scarves.
… Because what is a snowman, delivered by a mini fashionista, without a fabulous scarf?
Little Mama‘s Kindergarten teacher has been integral in her learning and we couldn’t wait to give her a treat reflecting the role she’s played in her life these past few months. Thanks to local photo gift services (we JUST made the deadline… PHEW!), we were able to custom design a panoramic mug. Instead of a picture that we didn’t have (Boo! Why didn’t I think of that earlier?), we had to get creative. We took her alphabet and her go-to self portrait, and designed Ms. R her very own mug made with love. It touches me just seeing how much my Little Mama has changed in her level of skill and confidence – I can’t imagine how it makes a teacher feel to see the fruits of her labor – much less, every time she enjoys a cup of tea. It’s important to remind our educators that their guidance and support is life-changing, and we appreciate their hard work.
Inspired by the creatives lovelies at Persia Lou, for the ladies in our lives Little mama wanted to spread some ‘Mani’ love. We grabbed ourselves a selection of ELF nail polish, because yes. My Tiny Rudolph handpicked all the colors one by one. We wrapped each bottle with a sparkly, twistable ribbon and tagged it with “For your Mistletoes” and “Have yoursELF a MANI little Christmas”, because we can’t deliver goodies without a little word pun fun. Our ladies loved it.
Next up… Hugs. Lots and lots of hugs. Hershey kiss bites are always a hit in our household, but we decided to bring it to another level. Hugs are where it’s at. Plus – you can never go wrong with stripes.
All we needed were Hershey hugs (white and brown chocolate, because once again… yes), square pretzels, topped off with yummy red and green smarties. Easy baking for a couple reindeer who don’t have much time to bake (Have you seen our delivery list thus far?). Simply, remove the hugs from the individual wraps, place it on the pretzel, let it bake at 350 degrees for 2 minutes, and carefully drop the smartie on the soft chocolate.
When I say careful, I mean – don’t do what we did…
Whoops.
However, the pinterest fails ended up right in our bellies, so who’s complaining?
I know Tiny Rudolph sure isn’t…
And finally – our most favourite treat of all. Rudolph brownies.
Perfect for a Tiny Rudolph delivery!
Easy peasy. The only thing we struggled with was finding the right sized mini cupcake pan. Once we sorted out the brownie situation (follow the box instructions – I told you we don’t bake…), we used Nutella (YUM!) as the sticky stuff for the edible eyes and red smartie noses. Don’t forget the ears – split mini pretzels (in the shape of the number 3 to make life easier for you and your Tiny Rudolph).
All ready to go!!
We were thrilled with the simple ideas that we were able to come up with at the 11th hour, this year. It filled our delivery boxes, and coincidentally our emotional buckets.
Delivery day for our Rudolph brownies and Hershey Hugs was filled with jingle bells, laughter, and some happy tears. I mean, you can’t help but smile when a pint sized Rudolph busts through the doors with a shiny nose, a big smile, and jingle bells ringing behind her (that was me. I’m corny that way).
From our Fertility Specialists and Counsellors who have held our hands through many many MANY attempts of building our family, to our most beloved Client service Manager at the cemetary who took care of our babies’ and our hearts throughout the years, to our priest who never stops praying for us, to Little Mama’s preschool teacher who broke Little Mama’s silence in her wee years, to our Dentist who gives us reason to smile bright and wide.
Since Little Mama was an even littler Mama, her Aunt Deedee inspired us to give back to those serving the community. Throughout her sons’ childhood (handsome fellows who are now well into their 20s), she made it a tradition to bring cookies to their local fire station. That always moved me, and I made it a point to encourage our family to create a similar tradition. We have an amazing local Police Department whose services have directly left an impact on our family and our community. From lost wallets to neighbourhood surveillance, we pretty much can’t feel safe without them.
As always, our fave drop off comes with a full tour of a big red truck from a real life everyday hero…
And of course, we can’t do deliveries without the most important delivery of all. Little Mama‘s angel babies. Since it would have been our dear Charlie’s 1st birthday this Christmas season, this moment was extra sweet.
Phew! We did it! A full day of deliveries, which left our hearts warm, lessons learned, and bellies full.
Hooray for Tiny Rudolph and the gift of giving!
Sending Christmas love and joy to you and yours from our Tiny Rudolph and her team!
