Our household loves finding reasons to leave special packages for one another. Next to birthdays and Christmas, Easter is just about our most favorite time of year. With the gorgeous spring weather, pretty pastels, and open toed sandals – why wouldn’t it be?
Spring reminds us of Easter, and Easter reminds us of all things sweet.
Did someone say… Sweet??
Yes, my little mama has a sweet tooth just like her daddy, so we know after all the Christmas toys have been played with, and the snowmen have melted – Easter brings on a whole gamut of fun, and a whole lotta sweet….
LD is only days into her 4 years of life, and she has yet to truly experience a chocolate filled, foiled wrapped, to-die-for-worthy Easter basket. Every year, she looks forward to our church’s annual Easter Egg hunt where the community of mini church goers topple each other over in hopes of finding a special treat. So, we’ve been able to get away with handing her a sheet of Easter stickers and a couple pieces of daddy’s chocolate Easter bunny.
This year, however, we wanted to step it up a notch. With 10 times the surprises, 5 times the color, 2 times the size, and half the sugar.
If you haven’t already guessed it by now – our family is all about making a statement. We love things loud, bright, and big. And our Easter surprise proved to be no exception.
Because we’re a family of creatives – we wanted to ensure we put in our dose of art and creativity. Alongside “pretend” plain and paintable eggs, we included 4 pastel colored water-based paints, paint brushes and of course, a mini-sized artist paint palette. We threw in some stickers and of course, our mini-fashionista could never do without a “Let’s Dress Up for Easter” activity book, bunny ear clips (because headbands are overrated), and of course, colorful fuzzy gloves for a final touch of whimsy.
But where is the sweet you speak of, you ask?
Well, we decided to work in a little Bee magic!

We were thrilled to integrate something fun, tasty, and essential in our first “real” Easter basket for little mama, as we now have the opportunity to start things right. This time – the flavor is found in the honibe® honey gummies™ vitamins! Don’t be fooled by the vitamin part… the flavor is bar none – but only HALF the sugar! Awesome for little mama, YAY for me! And it doesn’t stop there. These yummy gummies are gluten-free, dairy-free, preservative-free, and pretty much free of everything else non-vitamin, with the exception of flavor!
And I’m going to be honest… I’m going to take a short cut here, and rather than making Big Daddy his own Easter Basket, he’s going to have to fight LD over the honibe® honey delights®. I’m not too worried though – there’s enough in the pack for all of us.
How the heck did I fit all of this goodness in one little pail? Well.. take a quick peek at my quick prep. We are always busy bees when it comes to surprises for little mama. And this proved to be no different!
Doesn’t that look easy? Well – with a few trips to the Dollar Store, a couple head-scratchable moments of how to actually get around the whole chocolate thing – it was all worth the mild trouble. After all – this will be the face, I’ll be getting on Easter morning!
