I would be remiss if we let a Halloween pass without a good ol’ fashioned FAM-O-WEEN photo, courtesy of LD, Big Daddy, Seth our pup, and… yours truly.
As in the Halloweens of yore, we chose a theme that motivated us to think outside of the dress-up box, worked within our limited budget, and most importantly, allowed us to have fun as a family.
Inspired by the one and only, Crazy Eyes… errr, I mean, our Crazy (and oh- so-loveable) little mama…
Here is our family doing what we do best – reading stories to our story-loving-potty-trained-ish LD (I have battle scars as evidence of our efforts, by the way), our sweet and crazy toddler. Bonus: We are nothing short of obsessed when it comes to Orange is the New Black, a household name (a household necessity, if you ask me), and the ever popular, always streaming, Netflix original series.
And yes – this is indeed accurate, as far as our family is concerned. We have a little one who has officially perfected the art of manipulating the very people who vowed never to be manipulated, into reading her stories NON-STOP, until she is ready to do her business. I feel like I have spent the last 3 months straight reading stories in the loo. See that cheeky smile? Yeah – that’s the look she gives our dog when she gets her way. And as a result of our patience being tested, Seth, our ever so tolerant pooch, has become accustomed to playing his role as law and peacemaker when it comes to the wellbeing of our family. He’s as guard dog as they get – minus the Pornstache ‘tude (yeah, you’ll have to watch a few episodes of this awesome show to understand about 80% of this whole post).
In any event, we’re all about dressing up. We figured Halloween, turned FAM-O-WEEN, was a good time to break out the orange.
As Mason Cooley brilliantly put it, “Clothes make a statement. Costumes tell a story.” So… let’s tell stories.
Orange indeed, is the new black (and not just because it’s Halloween). Happy Orange Day!
