Spring is here – and fortunately for us, the sun is making its way through the clouds. But LD… why so blue?
Apparently, she has outgrown (or destroyed) her old shades, and it was about time little mama got herself a new pair.
And what better solution than a little retail therapy at Paxley, the new sunglass eyewear company for infants and toddlers – born in California (just like LD!) and handcrafted in Italy.
The creators of Paxley are no strangers to the needs of infants and kids. As parents themselves, their focus on safety, fit, and quality are undoubtedly evident in their designs. These ergonomically childreneered™ frames are unique in that they look good, feel good, and ARE good for our stylish minis.
LD has experienced her share of accidental pinch mishaps with her previous pairs, so you can imagine her (and my) delight upon discovering the safebend™ pinchless hinges. Furthermore, the adjustable core-wire customized temples are also inclusive to all designs, coupled with the lightweight memory plastic – making each wear comfortable, with a perfect fit each time.
Safety and comfort aside, the styles are chic and trendy, yet timeless. Upon selecting one or two that would work best with LD‘s wardrobe, the decision was a lengthy one. Here are just a handful to select from. Which would you choose?

Since we loved each and every style and were sure to find an outfit to match – we decided to go by namesake. Named after widely known and frequented districts in the Los Angeles area (Pico, Fairfax, Silverlake, Larchmont), we decided to choose a couple pairs that happened be two of the most stylin’ neighborhoods in town, which in turn, happened to be our favorite places to hang out on the weekends, pre-LD.

When it comes to daily wear and play, every parent is concerned if products are BPA free and lead free. The team behind Paxley pride themselves on manufacturing and designing products that are both BPA free and made of lead free materials, as an alternative to the cheaply made and sometimes dangerous eyewear that we almost too often adorn on our little ones. In addition, they provide 100% UVA and UVB protection with shatter-resitant lenses.
Who would have thought looking so good could be so… safe? LD ponders on this notion as she gives the Larchmont shades in clear pink a test run.
While testing out the Larchmont (and yes – if you ever visit LA, you simply must enjoy a latte in one of their quaint coffee shops), I gave LD free reign to do what she does best – jump around in merriment.
… And wouldn’t you know – her fabulous new shades stayed right where we left them; right above her tiny, button nose (don’t even get me started on the contoured rubber nose pads!)
Here’s the big secret – besides the perfect and ideal fit, each pair of sunglasses came with an adjustable head strap that you can tuck beautifully behind your little one’s ear. We’re not usually one to endorse headstraps – but these straps are adjustable, comfortable, and not the typical eyesore that most head straps tend to be. LD even insisted on keeping her hair up for added effect. Good call LD, good call.
Overall, we give these sunglasses two chubby thumbs up for it’s sophisticated styles and colors, its durability, safety, and all around consideration to a kid’s need to… have fun!
