Happy Mother’s Day! WHAT TO WEAR?

“It’s my day, and I’ll wear what I want to…” and wear what she wants, does she!  Mother’s Day is all about Mom, so who better to wear the bolds and the beautiful than Big Mama herself, right? Not surprising, Mother’s Day falls right into the middle of spring, the most profound of the four seasons, where it’s all about the emergence of color and all that is alive and vibrant.  So why not wear it?  With Mother’s Day Week (yes, mother’s day should be celebrated all Spring as far as I’m concerned!), think about blocks of bold color. Moms, it’s all about you, so don’t hold anything back! Bring back the reds and the yellows, and beat the winter blues with some blasts of navy! Nautical? Not so much. Cast your anchors aside, because it’s all about the pops of color and the variation of hues the keep your bold statement clear and concise, without being too literal.

When dressing your Little Mama, keep in mind she wants to be just like her hero (that’s you!), but allow her own unique character to emerge.  Bring out one of the colors from your trio of color (the lightest of your chosen color scheme is always a winner, as the brightest clearly needs to be worn by the woman that birthed her), and let her create her own statement with the use of accessories ranging from dainty to daring.  Chunky bangles and a mini version of your sturdy, but fabulous tote is a good start.  Keep the hues light in contrast to your bold use of color, allowing dimension and variety to your mother-daughter-duo dynamic.

When it comes to the Little Man of the house, anything goes.  He’s fun and riddled with energy and character.  Although he’s fully aware that he is a mama’s boy to the core, he doesn’t necessarily need to showcase it.  Add some print, and don’t be afraid to mix patterns.  Create layers and pull out different shades of one or two of the colors from Mama’s ensemble.  Keep him young, keep him fresh, and keep him cool.  That’s what being a dapper dude is all about.

There is no pressure to match every item from head to toe. Even if you share the same home, personality, or even DNA, no two are truly alike, so celebrate what makes you different while keeping it in the same family – color family, that is. Mommy-and-me stylin’ is never outta style – after all, behind every stylin’ kiddo, stands a pretty fabulous Mama.
