Since last year’s Halloween shenanigans, it dawned on me that I’m a little obsessed (bordering fanatic) with “thinking out of the dress-up box” and as a result, I tend to go a little… well…overboard. I guess it goes back to my Halloween school days as a plate (it’s far too embarrassing to post a photo – though, I have no idea where I would find one anyway). I walked around sandwiched between 2 gigantic circles made out of cardboard, dressed in table linens, placed a gigantic napkin right in the center, while balancing myself with a gigantic fork and spoon (unbeknownst to my parents, I had stolen them off their dining room walls). Yes. I was a plate. Not any less ridiculous than the likes of this:
Fast forward 25 years later, I continue challenging myself to outdo my own crazy Halloween antics dreaming of opportunities to be a gigantic palm tree, with LD as my coconut, Big daddy as a tourist, and Seth my pomchi as a local. Unfortunately, I am officially limited to the more subdued nature of my family. See, LD doesn’t mind dressing up – so long as it’s cozy, easy to maneuver in, accommodates snacks, and allows for potential naps. Which is why last year’s cops, robbers, and a stylin’ moneybag was not only the perfect solution – it was the ONLY solution. As a moneybag, LD was practically swaddled in warm felt, was the recipient of a wide array of oohs and ahhs, and allowed her mother to carry her via forward-facing Baby Bjorn, hands-free which almost always results in more trick-or-treating, and thus – More treats!
In addition – I have Big Daddy to worry about. Anyone who knows Big Daddy, knows that he has a very precious reputation to protect. He is not only “Big Daddy“, he is “Cool Daddy”. And no Cool dude would ever be caught with a gigantic plate strapped in front of his body. Particularly, this guy…
Needless to say – my efforts in carrying out the Fruit of the Loom underwear theme, wasn’t much of an option.
So we settled on this:
Do you likey?
And here’s a little close up on the silly little Peanut herself. Taking after her Big Daddy – she’s no stranger to “cool”, and insisted on accessorizing with her Ray-bans.
To which I surrendered.
