Today I celebrate the day that changed the course of my life. Four years ago this very day, I married the best man. No – not the bestman bestman… that would be much too scandalous for my simple life. I married THE best man – for me.
First comes love…
Then comes Marriage…
Then comes a baby…
… in a super cute outfit?
HOW did I meet this so-called love-of-my-life, you ask?
It all began over a decade ago, with a photo. (Note to self: I really need to get my hands on that photo!). I was having one of those good ol’ fashioned slumber parties with a dear friend of mine. After hours and hours of talking about finding me a good man and how I was minutes away from giving up, I came across a family photo. Sticking out like a sore and everso strikingly handsome thumb, this 6 foot, incredibly dapper young man who, to me, was pretty much the Asian version of Richard Gere (with insanely thick, to-die-for hair and a smile that could melt ice) jumped right out of the photo and into my dreams <cue music>. Going merely by my partiality toward the Tyson Beckfords and Johnny Depps of the world, my friend was a little taken aback by my interest. She maintained her cool and decided to educate me with the reality that this young man, her dear cousin, was a simple, no-nonsense man. A good man. He wasn’t some razzle-dazzle football phenom, or some rockstar blinged out in shiny gold medallions, or a doctor running around saving lives. To my delight and intrigue, he was in fact, an Artist who found no greater joy than to draw beautiful pictures and spend quality time with family and friends. A man of few words. No frills, no bells, no whistles. And she guaranteed… this guy will treat me right.
I look back fondly at the first day I met Big G (now affectionately referred to as, Big Daddy) face to face (this time, in his 3-dimensional form – he was even more adorable in the flesh!); New Year’s Eve, 1999, when upon meeting me, he gently took my face in his hands and said “wow” (he STILL denies he did this by the way… but I have witnesses). Fast forward 12 years later – he is still that dapper, handsome, soft-spoken gentleman I fell in love with. And he still has that great head of hair!
Don’t get me wrong – the evolution of D&G didn’t come without its share of bumps and bruises. Like any couple, we have our ups and downs – but it’s in our downs that we hold each other’s hand and pick each other up. And that is why I married THE best man.
Happy Anniversary to my Big G. I love you to the moon and back. If it weren’t for your love and support, I don’t know where I would be right now. Just so you know – even if we were living out of a box with nothing to cover us but an oversized bubble jacket, circa 1995, as long as I have your hand to hold – I know I’ll be A-okay <cue sappy Peter Cetera love song here>.
Here’s a peek at how it all went down 4 years ago today…
Stylishly yours,

I love the progressing photos. While I have pictures, I don’t have a similar theme. At least I have the memories.
