As an aspiring Yummy Mummy myself, I would be remiss not to mention the importance of having at least one military jacket in your closet. They’re functional, they’re fun, they’re androgynous yet feminine, and they sure stop their share of traffic. You are guaranteed these promises when it’s as flashy as this Red Military Jacket by none other than Ralph Lauren.
However, this luxury hasn’t always been available to our miniature versions. Of course, with the exception of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’s Custom-made Red Military Jacket also by Ralph Lauren:
No sooner, did we spot Zuma Rossdale prancing about the town with Yummy Mummy herself (and Harajuku Mini’s Mama) Gwen Stefani and big bro Kingston – sporting his own version of Military Chic.
But now it’s 2012, and the Military Madness has made a massive comeback for Fall/Winter 2012. And according to the ever-stylin’ Rossdale Rocker, they are still as haute as can be!
However, we are still not high-rollin’ like the Jolie -Pitts OR the Stefani-Rossdales. … so we continue on our quest to find an affordable version of the perfect Military Style Jacket for our little dudes and dudettes.
Stella McCartney Kids is definitely a good place to start where you can’t help but stop-n-stare at the Will Military Jacket in Charcoal black. With its flawless detail and authenticity, featuring blue and beige trim, central button fastenings, and the classic military epaulettes decorating the shoulders, your little soldiers will be marching victoriously in no time!
Your little stylin’ soldierettes can also achieve this look with the very affordable Harajuku Mini Majorette Jacket at Target:
The decorative buttons, adjustable sleeves, and ruffled hems make for the perfect attire for our mini fashio-tarian officers.
Also – be on the lookout for the return of the Children Hydrus Waistcoat in Black, as the deals featured on my last post were so insane, they’re GONE! But I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if they found their way back to the online shelves of AllSaints for kids since they were such a hot item. If indeed, this happens, you are in luck, because as seen here in Kingston Stefani-Rossdale’s photo-op, you can definitely cheat the system by tucking in a dark Waistcoat under a bold blazer by Tom and Drew, finishing the look with a pair of military suedes also from AllSaints. Again – these particular items are no longer available, but that doesn’t mean that you’ve seen the end of them. I found some sahh-weeet deals of AllSaints for kids wear at Zulilly, so never lose hope.
There are ways to proactively achieve this look for the Fall/Winter 2012 without breaking the bank. So don’t be afraid to act now, and get ahead of trend while there are still ways to do it on the cheap. As one of the leading officers of his time, Winston Churchill says, and I quote, “I never worry about action, but only inaction”. What most people didn’t realize at the time (including Mr. Churchill himself), he was inadvertently making reference to what really matters…looking cute.
Stylishly (and proactively) yours,
