Finding patriotic kids outfits sounds simple enough, but we have discovered over the last handful of years, that it is no easy feat. Even more interesting, is when the little one is both American and Canadian – and is completely against wearing Happy 4th! or Oh Canada! shirts. So, while everyone else is dusting off their BBQs, we’re busy finding creative ways to be patriotic while still keeping true to our sense of style.
As a family, we do our part to proudly wear our colors, just like we do for team events. After all… we need to stick together, and be loud and proud as we celebrate our beautiful lives in our beautiful countries!
Here are the 5 ideas for patriotic kids outfits that Little Mama sported for the last few Canada Day and 4th of July weekends.
#5FAVES :: 5 IDEAS FOR PATRIOTIC KIDS OUTFITS
1:: PATRIOTIC KIDS OUTFITS – I “Leaf” Canada
With the hot weather, Little Mama in her toddler years, loved wearing one piece bodysuits. We added the ruffle bottoms to bring out the sass, and threw on some flag Baby Legs leg warmers just in case there was any confusion as to which country she was celebrating that day.
2:: PATRIOTIC KIDS OUTFITS – American Cowgirl
I truly believe we all have a little country in each one of us. And Little Mama is no exception. Give her a denim top to wear over her star ruffle bottoms on our way to the beach, and she was good to go. Don’t forget the cowgirl boots!
3 :: PATRIOTIC KIDS OUTFITS – Flag Pants
Little Mama feels the most liberated in her harem pants. But not just any harem pant… the really loud, obnoxious kind. We took the risk of calling too much attention to ourselves by practically wearing the flag from head to toe. But it was worth it. Topped off with a fedora and a big smile, you can’t help but feel patriotic just standing next to her.
4 :: PATRIOTIC KIDS OUTFITS – Red, White, and Rugged
This past weekend, Little Mama took charge of her ensemble. She grabbed mama’s mid-calf socks and made them into over-the-knee maple leaf fun, added layers of plaid and landed herself a leaf tattoo. She was thrilled. You would never know this was the second Canada Day that she wore this Canadian flag shirt. Yay for stretching out the threads!
5 :: PATRIOTIC KIDS OUTFITS – Red, White, and Blue
Some of the best theme looks is to play with the main colours.
And, play she did.
BONUS :: PATRIOTIC KIDS OUTFITS – The Canadian Bear
Living in Canada, I’m no stranger to winter in July. Okay – so that has only happened three times in my life… but it happens. This particular moment however, Little Mama was rooting for the winter olympic Canadian teams while proudly donning her official maple leaf mittens, and her matching infinity velcro-fastened scarf. Added bonus, was her go-to Born to Love bear hat. Because what’s Canada without recognizing some of our awesome wildlife? (Okay, that was a stretch… this hat is just too darn cute to resist, am I right?).
